ATNHS Fostering Program
Above the Notch Humane Society is always looking for volunteers who are interested in fostering a dog in their home. Although the dog is only in your home temporarily, the love and encouragement they receive can make all the difference. We do everything we can for our dogs while they are at the kennel, but a safe and loving home is always a better option.
The First Step
Before meeting our homeless pets, we require that a fostering application be filled out and approved. A volunteer will contact you.
By Appointment Only
In addition to the written application, the fostering process includes an interview with one or more members of our Fostering Team. We will check vet and personal references, and may visit your home. We ask that all members of the potential foster family, and any family dogs, come to visit with the Fostering Team and with the dog they are considering fostering.
Become a Foster Family Today
If you are interested in fostering a dog until a permanent home can be found, please contact us. We provide the food while the dog is with you. The approval process to foster a dog is the same as adopting a dog, and you can fill out the fostering application online.
About The Animals
The animals that come to the Above the Notch Humane Society are often strays or animals surrendered by owners who can no longer keep them for a variety of reasons. Some are brought in by animal control officers or are referred to the shelter due to abuse or neglect. Some animals are homeless due to the death of their owner.
